Review of National Innovation System

In late January, the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr, announced a wide ranging review of Australia's national innovation system to be conducted by an expert panel chaired by Dr Terry Cutler.

In announcing the review the Minister highlighted “the vital role innovation plays in boosting productivity and international competitiveness”.

As part of the review, the panel will consider all aspects of the current Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) Program. It will examine the overall strategic direction of CRCs, and examine a range of issues, including governance and program design matters, the level and length of funding needed to support the program's objectives, as well as its overall scope and effectiveness.
