Bushfire CRC Workshop -Sunday 31 August

Bushfire Incident Response

Managing the response to a bushfire is a complex business. Fire behaviour, suppression response, community safety, human resource management – only when an incident management team is equipped with the best knowledge today can it respond to a real incident tomorrow.

This interactive and engaging workshop will be conducted following the model of managing a bushfire response.
From fire ignition to establishing an incident management team, to managing the health and safety of the firefighters in a campaign fire – this workshop will hear how research is contributing to better operational decisions at each stage.

Workshop participants will hear from leading researchers as well as agency staff on emerging ways to manage the response to fire.

Participants will be personnel who are engaged in incident management for level 2/3 incidents. Participants may also be in positions of management or aspiring to hold management positions in the next few years. Although this workshop is primarily dealing with research focusing on bushfire, many of the concepts and findings are equally applicable to any incident response.
