Project visited the US Interagency Wildland Fire Lessons Learned
Centre (LLC) in July 2006 and October 2006, respectively.
One of the aims of the visits was to consult with senior
management of the LLC to identify issues and lessons that might
inform the development of a lessons learned function for the
Australasian fire community as part of the Fire Knowledge Network
Project in the Bushfire CRC. This report is documents the learnings
and insights from the visit.

Results of the Fire Knowledge Network Online Information Needs
Survey – October 2006
The results of this survey will provide a more detailed
understanding of the information and knowledge needs of Australian
and New Zealand fire and land management agencies and will assist
in the development of the Network. The key driver
for this work is ensuring that the Network we
develop directly benefits, supports and adds value to our target
audience, the fire and land management agencies.

provides an outline of what the Fire Knowledge Network is, how it

The Fire Knowledge Network Stakeholder Survey – August
2006
A consultation process involving the senior management of 17 CRC
stakeholder organisations was conducted by Howard Partners with
more than 60 people interviewed. The findings contained in this
report will be used to guide the development of the Fire Knowledge
Network.

'Your' Knowledge Network flyer – July 2006
Developed as a handout for the Bushfire CRC Research
Manager’s Meeting, Wollongong. The aim of the flyer was to
promote the concept of the Network and encourage participation from
fire and land management agencies and researchers in its
development.

The Fire Knowledge Network Discussion Paper – May
2006
A discussion paper based on background work undertaken by Howard
Partners was circulated to participants in the Stakeholder Survey
(see above) proposing the purpose and concept of the Network. The
paper was used to initiate discussion on how the Fire Knowledge
Network might work and its value to fire agencies.
