Bushfire - Wikipedia

FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation - United Nations) Fire Management - FAO brings countries together to discuss technical and policy issues related to medium- to long-term fire management plans. FAO collaborates with other organizations and bodies within and outside the United Nations system.

Global Fire Monitoring Centre (GFMC) - The GFMC provides a global portal for wildland fire documentation, information and monitoring and is publicly accessible through the Internet. The regularly updated national to global wildland fire products of the GFMC are generated by a worldwide network of cooperating institutions. The online and offline products include:

  • Early warning of fire danger and near-real time monitoring of fire events
  • Interpretation, synthesis and archive of global fire information
  • Support of local, national and international entities to develop long-term strategies or policies for wildland fire management, including community-based fire management approaches and advanced wildland fire management training for decision makers
  • Serve as advisory body to the UN system through the coordination of the UN-ISDR Wildland Fire Advisory Group and the ISDR Global Wildland Fire Network
  • Emergency hotline and liaison capabilities for providing assistance for rapid assessment and decision support in response to wildland fire emergencies under cooperative agreements with UN-OCHA, Emergency Services Branch and the WSSD Environmental Emergencies Partnership .

The Nature Conservancy - Global Fire Initiative - The Nature Conservancy's work with fire takes many forms. In the United States the Conservancy has active prescribed burning programs in more than 40 states where we safely conduct ecological burns on approximately 100,000 acres each year. They assist with fire management on hundreds of thousands of acres of partner lands. Staff and volunteers follow National Wildfire Coordinating Group standards. In 2004, The Nature Conservancy became the only non-governmental organization to have direct access to the U.S. Incident Qualifications and Certification System (IQCS).

North Australian Fire Information (NAFI ) - Tropical Savanas CRC -  Fire hotspots in Northern Australia

Sentinel (Geoscience Australia) - A national bushfire monitoring system that provides timely information about hotspots to emergency service managers across Australia. The mapping system allows users to identify fire locations with a potential risk to communities and property.
