I am pleased to announce that the Bushfire CRC has
a new core member.
ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA), formerly an
Associate member of the Bushfire CRC, and the ACT Parks,
Conservation and Lands (PCL) will become joint core partners of the
Bushfire CRC from 1 July 2008.
On the 29th May 2008, the Governing Board of the
Bushfire CRC met and was pleased to accept the joint application
from the ACT agencies.
The Bushfire CRC has now moved into its final phase
of its 7 year life. The transfer of knowledge gained from the
Bushfire CRC research to our stakeholders, with the assistance of
the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council
(AFAC), is now the highest priority for the Bushfire CRC.
At the recent Stakeholders Council, you were
briefed on our participation in the National Innovation Systems
Review. Meanwhile the planning for a new CRC for Fire; Environment
and Society has strong momentum. Hence, this is an excellent time
for our ACT colleagues, Commissioner Gregor Manson (ESA) and Acting
Director Neil Cooper (PCL) to be core partners in the whole
process.
On behalf of all Stakeholders, I warmly welcome our
new core partner to the Bushfire CRC.
