Fire ecology of woody weeds in Australian forests and woodlands

This PhD research is investigating the following three hypotheses:

Hypothesis 1 – Woody weed invasion will change plant community composition and structure

Hypothesis 2 – Burning of forest ecosystems facilitates invasion of woody weed species through altered environmental conditions such water, light and nutrient availability

Hypothesis 3 – Woody weed invasion alters the structure of fuels loads, particularly fine fuels, which promote changes in fire regime (e.g. frequency, intensity spread) by modifying fuel availability and flame structure.
