Marysville Black Saturday Bushfire Survivors' Experiences of preparedness, survival, attachment, loss, grief, resilience and recovery.

This research will consider factors related to the Black Saturday bushfire in the Marysville community as an ethnological type study.  The project will review and analyse the literature, giving particular attention to the concepts of 'community' and 'attachment'.  The project will then involve field work and 'fact gathering' in relation to the local community's preparedness for a major bushfire event, of what people experienced of the fire itself, and of how they survived.  The research will consider how individuals and communities recovered and rebuilt after the event, with emphasis given to issues of attachment, loss and grief.
