Research

The research program of the Bushfire CRC focuses on five inter-related areas of research activity:

• Safe Prevention, Preparation and Suppression

• Management of Fire in the Landscape

• Community Self-Sufficiency for Fire Safety

• Protection of People and Property

• Education, Training and Communication

The creation of the research program of the Bushfire CRC was strongly influenced by the end-user organisations of the CRC in partnership with the researchers.

Each program has an End User Leader and a Research Program Leader who work closely with the CEO and Research Director in managing the research program.

Resident Survey

Residents in areas affected by the 7 February 2009 bushfires in Victoria were invited to participate in a long term study conducted by the Bushfire CRC and the Centre for Risk and Community Safety at RMIT University.

Around 6000 residents received the survey in the post, providing a range of responses for analysis and study.

See below for related materials including an Executive Summary, the full report, a sample survey and media release.
