Natural Hazards Research Australia (the Centre) was set up by the Australian Government to create safer and more resilient and sustainable communities through research, science and innovation. We are Australia’s leading natural hazards research capability, driving real-world change and solutions for our changing disaster risk landscape.
The Centre was funded for 10 years by the Australian Government on 1 July 2021, building on the work of the Bushfire and Natural Hazard Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) and the Bushfire CRC before it.
Five years into this mission, we continue to facilitate and amplify the impact of this earlier research through strategic knowledge translation to integrate the findings into the sector.
