Summit on fire safety

The Bushfire CRC had a popular display at the Safety Summit

Fire safety was the main point of discussion at the 12th International Wildland Fire Safety Summit held in Sydney at the end of October. Sponsored by the Bushfire CRC, the summit attracted more than 100 delegates from around Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe.

The International Association of Wildland Fire event had two days of presentations and discussion on many aspects of wildland and urban fire safety, both for firefighters and for communities. Five of the key presentations related to Bushfire CRC research, two Bushfire CRC PhD students also presented on their work – Cara Lord and Grahame Douglas - while Douglas Brown had a poster presentation.

The Bushfire CRC had a small but popular display of research reports, pocket field guides and other publications on show – pictured, Rocky Ansell, president of the Alaska Fire Chiefs Department and Safety Officer for the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, with Bushfire CRC Communications Manager David Bruce.
