Working in both Government and non-government sectors, Andrew has been at the forefront of the development of Emergency Management policy and practice throughout Australia over the last 40 years. He has extensive experience in key leadership roles, including as Head of Emergency Services at Australian Red Cross for over 15 years.
Andrew has been a key contributor and driver of numerous areas of work, including the development and evolution of the Australian approach to both disaster recovery and disaster resilience. He has also played a key role in the establishment of the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience and the Australian Business Roundtable for Disaster Resilience. Internationally, he has contributed to the IFRC Global Resilience Strategy and is a former Vice President of the International Sociological Association Disaster Research Committee.
